One of our favorite summer entertaining tricks is a Build Your Own ____ Bar. It can be build your own brat, burger, veggie burger, salmon sandwich, hot dog, chicken sandwich…you get the idea. Ask your guests to bring a side dish or fruit for dessert and your work is considerably less! This 4th of July we’re offering brats we got from our local pastured meat supplier (All Grass Farms for any of you locals!)  These toppings pair perfectly but honestly we’ve used this exact spread with beef burgers and salmon sandwiches too.  While it may seem like a lot condiments to ‘make’, keep in mind that they all are only a few ingredients, and...

These chicken tenders only took 84 tries before they were deemed ‘perfect’ by both me and the test group of kids. Arduous? Yes. Worth it? Most definitely.  I wanted a recipe that was as quick and easy to make as possible, but didn’t sacrifice on crunch and flavor. We tried a few methods; the standard three step dredge, a flour-egg-flour dredge, and even a ‘toss everything in a bag and shake it up’ method that some swear by. We also tried out various types of bread crumbs; panko, traditional and a delicious gluten free option made from crushed chickpeas.  The Dredge Method: The traditional flour-egg-breadcrumb dredging method...

Breakfast Casserole with Mama Jess Garden Pasta Sauce

Posted by on Jun 8, 2018 in blog, blogs, good meals, recipes, Uncategorized | Comments Off on Breakfast Casserole with Mama Jess Garden Pasta Sauce

Which means amidst all the construction dust and coming...

Posted by on Mar 15, 2018 in blog, blogs, good meals, recipes | Comments Off on Mama Jess Clean Eating Broccoli Tots and our No Sugar Added Ketchup

We are knee deep in toddlerhood over here and one of my tyrants is refusing vegetables with amazing vigor.  He will reject broccoli over and over, even when it is sprinkled with cheese, dipped in hummus or homemade ranch or combined with his favorite food (yes I put broccoli on pizza; no he didn’t eat it). All the parenting experts tell me that if I let him have a hand in preparing it and I stay calm and emotionally neutral when he tries it (or doesn’t, as is our case) he will eventually come around.
