Brussels Sprout Sliders

Posted by on Jan 30, 2020 in blog

Super Bowl time is among us. If you’re like me, you enjoy the game more for the funny commercials and the food that is put out at the party. There is something about the Super Bowl that elevates snacks and traditional tailgate foods. So today, we decided to elevate our snack level as well.

Say hello to these Brussel Sprout Sliders, the first appetizer that is going to disappear at your party! While they are so small, they pack a punch of flavor from the roasted brussels, the savory Brie cheese, the salty bacon, and the sweet onion jam with a touch of chili powder. Are you eating keto? Simply leave out the onion jam and enjoy a brie and bacon slider!

I recommend hand-picking out your brussels at the grocery store if you can, because you want the big ones! I also recommend finding the creamiest Brie that you can, so it is easy to spread! These little bites come together so nicely, they will be a hit!

Enjoy them, and enjoy coming together with family and friends this weekend to celebrate football and food!

For the sliders
  1. 15 brussels sprouts, cut in half
  2. 5 pieces of bacon, cooked
  3. 7 oz Brie cheese, creamy to spread or cut into squares
  4. Salt and pepper to taste
  5. 2 T olive oil
For the jam
  1. 3 T butter
  2. 1 onion, small chopped
  3. 3 cloves garlic, minced
  4. 1/4 cup brown sugar
  5. 2 T maple syrup
  6. 2 T apple cider vinegar
  7. 1 t chili powder
  8. Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Place brussels sprouts on a baking sheet, toss with olive oil, salt and pepper. Roast for 20 minutes, turning halfway.
  3. While roasting, make the jam.
  4. In a large saute pan, add the butter, allowing it to melt before adding the garlic and onions. Saute onions until translucent.
  5. Add brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, syrup, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well and let simmer until jam has thickened. Remove from heat.
  6. When the brussels have roasted and cooled enough, on one half, spread Brie cheese, add 1/3 of a piece of bacon, top with a small spoonful of jam, and finish with another half of a brussels sprout. Hold together with a toothpick.
  7. Repeat until all the sliders are made.
  8. Enjoy!
